If We Observe the Downfall of the Movement of Bazball, Let’s Appreciate What It Created.
The Journey of a Cult can be marked by specific steps.
1. The Big Idea
An inspiring figure or coaches introduce a revolutionary approach pledging a panacea for alienated and vulnerable people.
So here we are. Plans are in motion to challenge the establishment down in Brisbane. Pressure is mounting. Signs of trouble appear from the sidelines. Do you ever miss the start, when everything was fresh? The era of early Bazball, of uninhibited aggression.
2. The Honeymoon Phase
Team architects offer a new start, optimism ahead, love, salvation together with shared faith in the big idea.
How did it feel at first? A team united basking in glory. Ink. Forearms. Jawlines. Confident masculinity. Oh sure, The team will claim it’s not a real term, amusingly because if it doesn’t exist, what exactly did I just watch?
Yet it’s clear its essence. It’s Harry Brook executing a stroke so unconventional it has to be pixelated. It’s the excitement of Ben Stokes at his peak, a look that says: pensive Nordic god, rugged appearance, natural look, truly contemporary you wouldn’t be surprised to look down and find him positioned on the ground bare-chested holding a fish.
It’s the batsman continuing to have permission addressing the media, resembling a cheerful animal formally attired, saying stuff like we’re challenging norms. And yes, the atmosphere, for a significant period, was only good energy.
3. A New Life
Building period. Cohesion maintained through repetition of mantras. These principles may seem irrational to prove commitment.
Does anyone else feel? The reaction, the anger, the disappointment following the initial loss seems too strong, unwarranted. England batted badly during the match, as is typical there.
